Potatoes Au Beurre

6 - 8 potatoes 2 teaspoons salt 1/4 teaspoon pepper 3 Tablespoons parsley 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, grated 6 tablespoons butter 1 cup whipping cream Peel and cut potatoes into 1/2 -inch thick strips, like french fries. Layer in a 9 x 13 inch pan. Sprinkle with salt, pepper, and parsley. Dot with butter, pour cream over top. Sprinkle shredded cheese evenly around. Cover with foil and bake for 1 1/2 hours @ 350. Remove cover and bake for 1/2 more or until lightly browned. You can make them ahead, baking for 1 hour then freeze. **The phrase "au beurre" means "in butter". These taste very similar to au gratin potatoes.**
