Made these bread sticks for the first time today.
The recipe has been in the family for awhile, but it's
usually my sister-in-law that makes them.
So... here's the recipe,
because they're waaaaaaay to delicious to not share:
You'll need the following ingredients:
2 teaspoons salt
2 cups hot water
3 tablespoons sugar
4 cups flour
2 tablespoons yeast
1/2 cup warm water
2 pinches sugar
2 cups flour
1 cube butter
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 400, grease two cookie sheets.
2. Soften yeast and pinches of sugar in warm water.
3. Mix salt, hot water, 3 tablespoons sugar and 4 cups flour.
4. When yeast is dissolved add flour to mixture, mix well.
5. Add remaining flour, one cup at a time, mix well.
6. Divide dough into 2 halves.
7. Stretch each piece of dough to fit into a cookie sheet.
8. Melt butter, pour/spread over dough.
9. Sprinkle garlic powder and Parmesan cheese on top.
10. Bake at 400 until golden brown, about 13 minutes.
Side Note:
Once ours had 3 minutes left on the timer
I glanced @ them, they were still pretty buttery/soft,
so I set the timer for 5 minutes
and turned the oven up to 425,
they came out perrrrrrrrrfect!
